I’m a freshman at an immense university way down south. I couldn’t have been more enthusiastic to leave my parent’s condo plus live in a large dorm with tons of other students my own age. On move in day, our parents helped myself and others move in plus to get everything set up. Once they left, our new roommate plus I had a large meeting with our resident assistant plus the rest of our floor. At the meeting, they covered all the rules plus regulations. One thing they mentioned, was that we’d be having a few random fire drills throughout the year. My roommate plus I blew it off, thinking they would be during the day plus we’d most likely be at our classes or in the library. Three weeks later, and both of us found out that both of us were quite wrong! At 3 in the AM, our roommate plus I shot up from bed at the sound of our fire alarm clanging. The two of us groggily trudged down the stairs plus exited the building with all the other fatigued and sleepy residents. As soon as both of us stepped outside, both of us realized that it was freezing and snowing! My roommate plus I only had worn shorts plus flip flops, so both of us were legitimately shivering in the twenty 3 degree temperature. Once the entire building had exited, the resident assistants took their sweet time counting everyone plus making sure everything went smoothly. The two of us stood shaking, envying everyone who was smarter than us plus put on their warm, cozy pajamas. Once both of us thought both of us had frostbite, they finally let us back inside. My roommate plus I rushed up to our room plus bundled ourselves inside our blankets! The two of us made sure to crank the heat up to 84 degrees, in order to thaw out.
