HVAC tech won’t come in

Last night, I was up late watching the news and heard a story about a giant superstorm in the middle of the ocean, right off the coast from where I live.  I will plead ignorance, since I don’t recognize the named storm.  I must have missed this one, now that I recognize that I have not been keeping up with the news very well, as I should be.  The news is telling me it is now time to get ready just in case the storm is to make landfall and disrupt the power and cause an outage.  After this news, I rush back home from my errands to make sure that my apartment is ready to withstand the extra strong wind that the storms are producing. I don’t have anyone to stay with, since I live alone so I certainly hope that I don’t lose power.  If that were to happen, my main fear is that my Heating, Ventilation and A/C system will be shut off due to a power outage. With the asthma that I have, I need the air inside my apartment to stay as crisp as well as scrub as possible. If the power goes out, I will not have anything to circulate the air through the filtration vents as well as the air will become stagnant. I rely on my a/c to help keep the air flow going. I frantically call my local Heating, Ventilation and A/C contractor as well as ask if they will be making apartment calls during the storm, and the Heating, Ventilation and A/C technician just laughed out loud at me and chuckled that they will not be making any service calls until the storm has passed. This did not ease my mind about my possible heating and cooling issue. It truthfully made everything feel worse. I did not have any idea what I was going to do if the storm made my Heating, Ventilation and A/C system turn off. I am hoping I can just find a friend to stay with!
