Should the furnace be fixed?

I am not sure what to do with my furnace… I have a natural gas furnace that broke down on me. I called a local Heating in addition to Air Conditioning supplier to come out in addition to assess the harm and to supply me a quote on the furnace… He said it would be $730 to repair. It’s a complication with the igniter plate in addition to the motor, however the problem I have is that the furnace is already 24 years old. I am not sure how much longer it will last. Most websites I find on the internet say that furnaces last, on average, 27 years, so, I don’t want to invest $730 if the furnace will break down by next year anyway. I am clueless when it comes to stuff this stuff and really need some solid advice. I don’t trust my Heating in addition to Air Conditioning supplier with this decision as they are going to propose I update the whole furnace so they can make more money from me. I am so terrified of being taken advantage of in addition to buying something pricey that isn’t necessary. I relocated out west, it definitely does not get that cold in the Winter. I suppose it falls below freezing 1 or 2 times the entire season. So, I definitely don’t require a super powerful heating system, then on top of that, my home is only 1000 square feet, so it’s pretty small. I also  live alone, so I definitely don’t need the whole place to be warm. I am not at home that much anyway. It would be great to figure out how much more cost efficient a new furnace would be to my old 1. I am going to attempt to crunch some numbers to help make this decision!
