My aging mom refuses to update her condo in any fashion. The wood floors are worn, the light fixtures are also aged, and it still has wallpaper from the seventies! She has owned the place ever since I was a kid, and I do not recall her going about and making any changes. I can remember a few times when I offered to help her switch out some current furniture, although she just laughed and told myself and others that she honestly didn’t want to fix what wasn’t broken. The one thing that complications myself and others the most with regard to her cute little condo is the outdated gas furnace. It has been there since the condo was originally built, and I am worried that it is a safety hazard. I am mostly uneasy that she may leave something flammable nearby, and it will catch on fire. My mom is a bit less likely to consider these risks throughout her day, whereas something else that has crossed my mind has been leaks. Safety is really important. I don’t want my mom exposed to carbon monoxide. I assume the best thing to do is to have a current central heating and air component installed in short order. It will be a little fancy upfront, however the peace of mind it would provide myself and others would honestly, to my mind, make the fees well worth it. Aside from that, it would make her life much easier. She would be easily able to keep the air at the perfect level. To add to the benefits, she would even be able to get some really neat zone control features installed so she could adjust the settings from her own room. I assume that I am going to call a local Heating and A/C business soon to have them provide her with an accurate estimate.
